Classroom Bulletin Boards And Projects

Most schools come with bulletin board space for whatever a teacher needs. There are some in classrooms and there are some in the common areas of the school. Those in the common areas are mostly for announcements and information, though they also have some educational pull at times. Classroom bulletin boards are often for one classroom, and can be used for just about anything. If you are a teacher and sometimes run out of ideas for these, there are some things to do with them of which you may not considered.

If you have younger children in your classroom, your boards may be used by you most of the time. Either you or your aides can do what you want with them. You can use these classroom bulletin boards to display special work done by the students in your class, or you can use these to create something that happens to be a theme for what your children will be learning that week. Some teachers have bulletin boards that are up all year long with a theme such as the alphabet or perhaps a world map when learning about different countries around the world.

Teachers with older students can do these same things with their classroom bulletin boards. The themes may be a bit more complex than just the alphabet but they are used for the very same reasons. They can be used to display information that is relevant to the current course theme or work, and can be interactive in some cases. These can also be used to showcase when a student does very well. This can motivate other children in your class to work harder. Just make sure each student has a turn so that no child feels as if they do not belong with the rest of the class.

Older children can work on these classroom bulletin boards too. You can divide your kids into groups of any amount, though two or three students in a group works the best. Have each group do a week in a theme or your choice or let them choose something in relation to what you are working on in class. Each group may go a few times before the year is up. You may be surprised at what they can come up with and it promotes friendships and teamwork. Some can be holiday in theme, but they should always be educational.

In order to make great classroom bulletin boards, you are going to have the right supplies. Some schools have a lot of this stuff, and you do not have to worry about it, but you can get or order some things on your own. Large rolls of colored paper are always a good idea, along with a stack of old magazines (children can donate these from home) and other crafty items like glue, tape, and anything else of which you can think. At times, old items from drama club can be used, and the PTA may help with supplies to if you ask for help. Look for wholesale lots of items online as well. These things will spark creativity and your students can have fun and learn at the same time.
